Entry Requirements

  • Verification of at least 60 hours experience working in residential or community care.

  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5 or above.

Special Entry may be granted where evidence exists that the applicant can successfully complete the programme ie, experience, current work. Please contact the Polytechnic for details.

If you require entry into health related and applied science programmes this is for you. This programme includes a mix of classroom and online study. Tai Poutini Polytechnic offers this programme in conjunction with the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT).

This certificate is a bridging programme that provides a sound basis for further study in the science and health disciplines. As a graduate you will possess the knowledge required to apply for degree, diploma and certificate programmes such as the Bachelor of Nursing, the Bachelor of Midwifery, the National Certificate in Veterinary Nursing (Level 5) and Bachelor of Applied Science.


Entry Requirements

This programme is designed for you if you have no previous qualifications. However, you must have basic English literacy skills. On entry to the programme you must have the skills to complete assignments and written tests and understand and follow written and oral instructions in order to meet safety requirements in the laboratory. During the programme you will be required to spell technical and specialised words correctly.
  • Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 5.5.
