Diploma in Jade and Hard Stone Carving*

This programme is unique to the West Coast of the South Island. It provides an opportunity for further artistic and creative development in the specialised area of carving jade and hard stones. Wider research into stone carving cultures, both past and present, will take students further in the development of their own unique carving designs.
Career Opportunities
Employment or self-employment as a Jade Carver or Stone Artist.
Entry Requirements
- Successful completion of the Certificate in Jade and Hard Stone Carving.
- Where the applicant has not achieved the Certificate in Jade and Hard Stone Carving, appropriate artistic ability as evidenced by a portfolio submission or a practical demonstration of carving expertise will be required. The portfolio will include previous jade carving, drawing and design.
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent) Level 6.0.
Selection Criteria apply. Special Entry may be granted where evidence exists that the applicant can successfully complete the programme. Please contact the Polytechnic for details.
