Short Award in Rafting*
|
This new and unique programme offers the only opportunity for specialised, intensive raft guide training in New Zealand.
The West Coast area, Buller region, and the Rangitata river (Gr 4/5) offer some of the best rafting training environments in the world. This course offers internationally experienced instructors who are all NZ Rafting Association Assessors, along with top-quality rafting and rescue equipment.
On completion of this short award you will gain Tai Poutini Polytechnic Short Award plus NZQA units 21283 and 21282.

Career Opportunities
The skills you learn are specifically designed to move you towards obtaining the NZ Raft Guide Awards. You will be ideally placed to move in to the Rafting Industry and begin your Rafting Career.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants must have attended a minimum of four years secondary schooling and successfully achieved NCEA Level One (or equivalent), inclusive of credits in Science.
- Applicants must hold a current First Aid Certificate.
- 7 days minimum experience; or 20 days kayaking experience.
- Able to paddle Grade 2 water.
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent)
Level 5.5.
