Certificate in Elementary Construction

This programme has been developed to provide students with elementary construction skills and a pathway entry into the Tai Poutini Polytechnic Certificate in Carpentry.
The programme includes a balance of theory and practical work enabling students to gain up to 66 Level 2 Credits.
Core Elements
- Safe use and maintenance of hand tools and power tools
- Safe workshop practices
- Trade measurements and calculations
- Trade sketches and drawings
- Construction of decks, fences and gates, utility buildings, garden furniture and other minor items
- Minor concrete works

Entry Requirements
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Applicants for whom English is a second language must meet IELTS (or equivalent)
Level 5.5.
